You’ve heard of Google Hangouts, but chances are you’re not using it at work very often. Perhaps Google’s new hardware kit, which includes a touch-screen controller, Speakermic, a 4K-sensor Ultra HD camera, and an Asus Chromebox will change that. The Speakermic is custom designed and built by Google, and claims to reduce echoes and actively manage background noise to deliver rich, immersive, 360˚ sound.

The camera is 4K and automatically zooms and crops based on the number of people in the meeting room. The camera has a 120-degree field of view. Both it and the Speakermic are designed for rooms of up to 250 square feet. The touch-screen controller lets you join scheduled events from the calendar, view meeting details with a single tap, mute certain participants, and control the camera. There's also a "dial-a-phone" feature to add participants, and an HDMI port so meeting participants can present from a laptop.

The kit can also control the room and Nest gear. Called the Hangouts Meet Kit, the package costs $1999, and includes a free year of the software license, normally $250.
