Affordable housing in Hong Kong is in the midst of a crisis. The average apartment is 150 square feet and builders are running out of room to build anymore. A Hong Kong architect group has created the OPOD Which is a plan to convert water pipes to create new housing spaces. The proposed units will be in the gaps between existing buildings and in other spaces where traditional housing is unviable. The OPOD’s will have all of the features of a studio apartment only in a much trendier location.
