On today’s podcast, we spoke with David Rose, Director of Sales for Bennett Marine, about how their technology is shaping the future of the boating industry; commercially, recreationally, and competitively. Bennet Marine is a major manufacturer of Trim Tab Systems: hydraulic, electric, and spring-loaded versions. According to Rose, the trim tab has become a standardized accessory in the marine industry and is critical to helping a boat run more efficiently. Electric trim tabs route an electrical signal directly to actuators, while the hydraulic uses a pump and two actuators.
Rose explained how proud Bennett Marine is to offer both. The company attempts to remain forward thinking, and as a result they push the electric trim tabs to let people know they have more than one style in their lineup. In their efforts to get an audience with OEMs and dealers, they rely on an exceptional distribution network both nationwide and globally.
“Marketing materials is an attack ’em at all angles approach here at Bennett,” Rose said.
In addition, they have a great team of manufacturer sales reps who understand that cold calling still works as well. The brand itself also helps tremendously, and Rose discussed the Yamaha acquisition and how it has given the company a clearer picture of where they are going.
The opportunity to work with some of the most brilliant minds in the business has impacted their strategic planning. And of course, the open houses with dealers remain a favorite way to network in an intimate setting with real conversations with those who are hands-on installing and using the products every day. Ultimately, according to Rose, a focus on aggressive product development keeps them moving forward and will remain a focus for the Bennett team and their efforts to use valuable feedback and stay on top of industry trends.
