Listen: Game Over for Concussions with Jessie Garcia of Tozuda
Jessie Garcia is a self-professed hard-headed entrepreneur, as founder and CEO of Philadelphia-based Tozuda. (The Spanish word for hard-headed and what her grandmother called her.) The 28-year-old former college athlete turned engineer is democratizing concussion protocol with her invention, the Tozuda head impact sensor.
In this episode of the Sports and Entertainment Podcast, we talk to Garcia about the small mechanical device, which is half the size of a AAA battery and costs only $30, that measures how much G force an athlete sustains in a hit. “The most exciting part is that [this device] keeps people playing sports,” Garcia says.
“I hope this helps lead to a proper diagnosis from a doctor and helps an athlete recover fully without sustaining further head injury.”
