Electric bikes and scooters may offer smart cities a way to reduce traffic congestion inside urban sprawl as well as reduce carbon emissions that impact climate change. Tech company Calamp is teaming with scooter maker Ojo Electric LLC to expand the use of electric scooters in cities with a new on-demand ride-sharing service. The launch of the Ojo service will take place the week of Jan. 21 in Austin, Texas, and the companies plan to eventually roll out into other urban areas across the U.S., Europe and Asia.
