Higher ed must embed real work into curriculum, not bolt it on after
Francis argues that higher education's traditional separation of classroom learning from workforce preparation is structurally broken, and that institutions must redesign entire curricula around real employer problems, work-based projects, and experiential learning as core academic infrastructure—not as optional add-ons. He contends that without institution-wide alignment between curriculum design, career coaching, and employer demand, universities will continue producing graduates who are technically capable but unable to apply knowledge to real-world challenges, making them effectively unemployable.
