City: Albuquerque health center bill fell to $20,118 in 2025

Albuquerque retrofitted its Dede Feldman Los Griegos Health & Social Services Center after HVAC equipment more than 20 years old failed. The city reports the electric bill fell from more than $44,000 a year to $20,118 in 2025; costs through August 2026 were $14,724. The takeaway: an emergency replacement became a whole-building fix, with controls, sealing, repaired solar and city-owned metering to verify consumption, solar generation and utility performance.
