Meet Dawn Fontaine: Textile Designer, Storyteller, and Creative Marketer

At MarketScale, every team member has a unique story that shapes the way they contribute to our success. For Dawn Fontaine, a digital media strategist on our team, her path from textile design to PR and digital marketing is as diverse as it is inspiring. In this week’s Coffee Break episode, we had the chance to sit down with Dawn to learn more about her career, her passions, and the experiences that brought her to MarketScale.

A Creative Foundation

Dawn’s professional journey started in textile design and merchandising, a field where creativity and visualization go hand in hand. Although she didn’t pursue a formal career in interior design, her education in the field gave her an eye for aesthetics and attention to detail.

“My degree is in interior design, and while I never worked as an interior designer, I took that visual skill into every role I’ve had since. I can look at something—a piece of fabric, a video, or even a room—and imagine how the end result will come together,” she explained.
This creative background has been instrumental in her work at MarketScale, where she oversees content that not only engages but also visually resonates with its audience.

Adapting to New Challenges
Dawn’s career has taken her through roles in textile buying, PR, and now digital marketing. Each step brought opportunities to grow and adapt. A pivotal moment was her transition from the visual world of textiles to the more analytical realm of marketing.

Her ability to connect these seemingly different disciplines has allowed her to create content that balances both form and function.

The ‘Marketing Detective’
At MarketScale, Dawn has become known as a “marketing detective”—a title she embraces with enthusiasm.

“I love uncovering the hidden gems in a client’s story. Even if the topic seems technical or dry, there’s always something there that can be turned into a compelling narrative,” she said. “It’s about understanding what excites the client and finding a way to make that excitement relatable to their audience.”
For Dawn, this means digging deep into her clients’ industries, finding the connections between their products or services, and crafting stories that resonate with their target markets.

Always Learning
Dawn’s curiosity doesn’t stop with her work at MarketScale. Recently, she took on a new challenge: earning a certificate in UX/UI design. While it was outside her comfort zone, she found the process rewarding.

“UX/UI design helped me think differently about the user experience. Whether it’s a website, app, or even a piece of content, it all comes down to making it intuitive and easy to use,” she explained.
Her love of learning extends to her personal life, where she balances work with caring for her four dogs and a flock of chickens.

“The chickens are a lot of fun. They’re surprisingly entertaining, and having fresh eggs in the backyard is a bonus,” she laughed.

Building Connections

For Dawn, every experience—whether it’s professional or personal—comes back to connection. She takes pride in creating content that tells stories, solves problems, and brings people together.

“When you look back, it’s amazing how all the pieces of your career come together. You realize the skills you picked up in one job are still useful in another. It’s all about finding those connections,” she said.

Dawn’s story is one of many at MarketScale. Subscribe to our Coffee Break series for more insights, stories, and behind-the-scenes looks at the people who make MarketScale what it is.

As artificial intelligence moves deeper into enterprise operations, many organizations are discovering that the real challenge is not adoption, but control.
