Listen: The Role Of Technology In Education

At the latest Future of Education Technology Conference, speaker Caitlin Krause quoted Seymour Papert saying, “the role of the teacher is to create the conditions for invention rather than provide ready-made knowledge.” So, this begs that question that many in this industry are asking, “what is the role of technology within Education?” Well the fact is that learning is no longer just limited to the classroom, it can happen anywhere as technology acts as a consistent system that has made it possible to connect, create, synthesize, and analyze wherever you are at.
So, with all this to consider, the conversation really needs to move from seeing it as just a tangible object to be utilized and view it for what it is: a system that promotes culture and community. Students no longer need a specific environment to acquire new skills or basic information, but what we all should focus on moving forward is the fact that technology can very well change what school could become, and that’s something that we can all be excited about. At the latest Future of Education Technology Conference, speaker Caitlin Krause quoted Seymour Papert saying, “the role of the teacher is to create the conditions for invention rather than provide ready-made knowledge.”
