Icom’s Wireless LAN Radio System: Redefining Communication in the Commercial Boating Industry

Icom’s Senior Sales Manager, Ray Novak, joins Rick Waedekin, Icom’s West Coast Rep and Coast Marine Marketing President, for a conversation at the Pacific Marine Expo. They discuss Icom’s new wireless LAN radio system designed to improve marine communication through secure, internet-based connectivity. These radios are compact, waterproof, and built to handle rugged conditions. Unlike traditional VHF radios, they use internet connectivity to enable communication well beyond line of sight.

The system operates through a central controller and standard access points, supporting full duplex audio so users can speak and hear at the same time. Bluetooth headset compatibility allows for hands-free use, and built-in security features limit communication to private groups. Icom’s wireless LAN radio system eliminates the need for onboard repeaters and gives commercial vessels a flexible, modern alternative for clear and secure communication.
