Applied Digital AI Data Center July 2025 Update

In the heart of Ellendale, North Dakota, the Applied Digital AI Data Center known as Polaris Forge 1 (Previously ELN02) is steadily emerging as one of the largest purpose-built AI data centers in the United States. This July 2025 site update highlights remarkable progress at the Applied Digital project, designed to set new standards for high-density, AI-optimized infrastructure. Building 1, with a critical IT load of 100 MW, has already reached substantial completion for its first phase—thanks to McGough Construction—while commissioning moves forward right on schedule. The backup power generation facility is rapidly expanding, too, with new generators arriving each week to ensure unmatched reliability.

Meanwhile, Building 2, slated for 150 MW of critical IT capacity, is well into its foundational and precast erection work, steadily marching toward its first major milestone. The Applied Digital AI Data Center’s two-pronged expansion is more than just construction—it’s the physical backbone for the next era of AI innovation and scalability. As steel rises and systems come online, Polaris Forge 1 is positioning itself to be the cornerstone of America’s AI infrastructure future.

Recent survey data from McKinsey & Company indicates that about half of U.S. healthcare leaders say their organizations have already put generative AI into practice, underscoring how quickly the technology is…

Artificial intelligence has already moved beyond the hype cycle and into the day-to-day reality of business operations. Companies across industries are rushing to integrate AI into their workflows, but many are running into the same challenge: it’s relatively easy to build something that works in a demo, and much harder to make it reliable…
