The Power of Storytelling through Animation

Storytelling is the premier way to leave an impact on your audience – and that narrative power has to be present in everything that your organization creates.

So, how powerful is storytelling in the context of animation, and how can designers bring their animations to life in a way that resonates with those who view them?

To find out, Extra Condensed host Toby Martin, CEO of Extensis, was joined by MarketScale Design Team Lead Marisa Harris and Illustrator and Animator Kiara Thomas to dive further into this critical topic.
One of the most interesting points, perhaps, was Harris’s contention that, often, designers need to blend art and science for the best result.

“Whenever I was in school, a lot of it was using science in the sense of technology. … We had to do things like engineering,” she said. “With my design, I now have found ways to use different code or different math problems, or even physics, to better create.

“Even watching different things and understanding how physics works, how gravity works and how things function in the sense of science really helps to better display animations.”

The two artists also explored advice they’ve leveraged in growing their own careers and talked through the process of crafting a powerful story.

As artificial intelligence moves deeper into enterprise operations, many organizations are discovering that the real challenge is not adoption, but control. Jeff Carson, founder of…
