Richard Olguin on Gates & Sons’ Construction Products

How does the integration of industry-specific products and methods into vocational education impact the preparedness of students entering the construction workforce? In an insightful interview, Jim Huscroft, the President of Gates & Sons, speaks with Richard Olguin, a Project Manager at Baca Construction, about Olguin’s experience incorporating Gates’s construction products into the building construction program he led, emphasizing the product’s reliability and versatility as key teaching tools.

“I knew how versatile, how reliable it was,” Olguin said. “It lasts. This product, I have forms that I’ve had for they’re probably getting close to forty years old. And I’m just now trying to get to the end of my road, and I wanna sell them, and they’re still good enough where they’re saleable. There’s very little lamination; you have to take care of them, oil them. But I just truly believe in this product from the commercial side to the residential. Rods, cam locks, they just work.”
