McDonalds to Test Beyond Meat Burgers

The world’s most famous burger chain is teaming up with the product responsible this year’s most famous IPO.

McDonald’s announced it will begin testing Beyond Meat burgers at 28 Canadian locations over the next 12 weeks. The chain joins competitors Burger King and White Castle as fast food chains offering alternative meat menu items. Burger King and Whites Castle have partnerships with Impossible Foods.

The three-month testing period will give McDonald’s and its franchisees an opportunity to see how the new menu item affects efficiency and sales.

On Business Casual, Tyler Kern and Geoffrey Short reacted to the news and offered their opinions on the rise of plant-based food.
