Watch: FTC Files Anti-Trust Complaint Against The JM Smucker Company
The FTC announced this week that it has filed an anti-trust complaint on JM Smucker’s proposed purchase of Conagra’s Wesson cooking oil. Smuckers already owns Crisco and the acquisition would put their market share at 70% or more of brand cooking oil. The FTC contends the deal would reduce competition and give Smuckers too much leverage against retailers and grocers. Smuckers expressed disappointment in the filing but is working with Conagra to move forward. Is it a true anti-trust violation?
