The FDA Approves Crisis Algorithm
Could you imagine being able to know 6 hour BEFORE you had a heart attack? Recently, the FDA approved a new clinical platform that uses algorithmic data to predict and prevent respiratory failure. The WAVE Clinical Platform monitors patient vitals and sends alerts up to six hours before the patient could suffer from a heart attack or other potentially fatal incident. This new technology is looking to change the way hospital staffs care for patients. Mary Baum, Excel Medical’s chief strategy officer, said “I have five minutes to make a difference to your life. [But] if I can give you six hours… could we intervene in a productive way and be able to change the outcome?” Excel Medical plans to continue developing WAVE and begin making wearable technology for hospital staffs.
