Healthcare Analytics Decoded: Renewing a Focus on Employee Health and Wellness in the Wake of COVID-19

On this episode of Healthcare Analytics Decoded, Quantros’ Lindsey Klein was joined by Dr. Scott Conard, Founder and President of Converging Health, LLC and a well-known voice in the fields of healthcare consulting, particularly regarding employee benefits, data and measurement, strategic planning, and more.

In viewing the healthcare system and its quest for better outcomes, Conard leverages an extensive clinical background, experience in all realms of healthcare data collection and analytics, and more to form thorough looks at different aspects of care.

The duo dove into the immediate and lasting impacts of the spread of the novel coronavirus and the ensuing COVID-19 pandemic, allowing Conard to share his insight into how this virus may reshape the landscape of healthcare and healthcare data, one of his passions.

On a foundational level, Conard said that health and wellness involve much more than simply having access to a doctor. It’s an all-encompassing look at a person’s lifestyle, and data has made that clearer picture more possible than ever for companies looking to provide for employees and their families.

“From the behavior that we see in the data and the actions and results we see in the data, (we get) tremendous insight into how well a company’s plan benefit design is working and how well its strategy is working,” Conard said. “If something like the COVID pandemic comes up, are people able to access care? Do they know what to do?”

Klein and Conard also touched on social determinants of health, how COVID-19 has thrust those into the realm of reality as opposed to being largely abstract, and much more.
