Recruit CEO Discusses the Market Challenges in New Hiring Technology and AI

Japan’s biggest web company Recruit Holdings will have greater focus on Jobs and staffing business. Recruit is also the owner of the world’s biggest employment portal Indeed.com and Glassdoor. Watch below as CEO Hisayuki Idekoba, who took the position in April, spoke about challenges getting HR managers to look online for candidates.

Idekoba: The challenge we have is to convince folks to try new technologies. They’re not like marketing department people. So they are not saying like, hey, we need new technology, we need to try it, right. So but, you know, because of this pandemic, online assessments online to be doing online onboarding, these kind of technologies are well accepted from all people. And I think it was a great opportunity for us to move for the future with new technologies.

Host: How about the use of new technology, especially when you consider the threat or potential threat from larger tech companies?

Idekoba: We have already started to have online assessments or online interviews, but, you know, we’re getting more and more data. Millions of millions people finished assessments and online interviews, for example, somebody finished an interview within two minutes or spent 40 minutes is a big difference. So these types of new signals can improve our machine learning technology. Ultimately, it can serve seekers and employers better with our machine learning technologies.
