Why IT Professionals are Flocking to VMWorld this Week

Considered the industry’s premier digital infrastructure event, VMworld 2019 continues this week until Aug. 29. The event will welcome 21,000 attendees, including more than 700 sessions, and feature 230 sponsors and exhibitors. As the hosts at VMware say, “this isn’t just another IT event, it’s your discovery powerhouse.”

What VMworld is All About

Born in 1998, VMware is a company that helps digital businesses improve through a wide variety of technological solutions. VMware hosts VMworld to create an opportunity for learning within the industry. The event brings together major players like IBM, Intel, and CenturyLink as sponsors, and serves as a networking opportunity for businesses to showcase innovations.

What to Expect During VMworld 2019

To create learning, networking, and engagement opportunities, VMworld has a multitude of features and events. Attendees can expect:

  • Breakout sessions
  • Hands-on labs
  • Workshops
  • Theatre sessions
  • VMworld Fest Party (featuring One Republic and other artists)
  • Hall crawl networking event
  • Solutions exchange
  • Cloud city interactive
  • Broadcast booth
  • Expert bar 1:1 meetings

One of the most notable elements of many of these sessions and opportunities are the demonstrations. Attendees get to see firsthand what is new in IT, learn how to use innovative products and solutions, and even get expert support.

Throughout these events, attendees can personalize their experience based on their industry role or areas of interest. Using VMworld’s content catalog, professionals can search sessions based on criteria including networking and security, modern apps, or emerging trends. Finding something helpful to attend isn’t a challenge for most attendees; finding enough time to attend everything applicable may be a bigger task.

What’s Happened Already

Several general sessions have already occurred this week. However, those who missed them can catch up on sessions by watching the videos, which are posted here. Some breakout sessions, labs, and workshops including one about VMware Site Recovery Manager are scheduled for multiple days and won’t be posted online.

Attending the Next VMworld

For those who missed VMworld but are considering attending the next event, save the proposal VMware offers as a download. It includes a description of program benefits professionals can give to their employer. Many companies sponsor employee attendance because of the valuable information and connections they gain.
