Watch: The 2018 Oscars may be the lowest rated ever

Reports show that the 90th annual Academy Awards may be the lowest ratings ever for the movie awards show. 2018 saw a 16% drop from 2017, already at a decade low. The fact that “The Shape of Water” is doing well at the box office seems irrelevant. An awards roster of high-grossing films and political commentary don’t seem to move the needle at all, leaving many scratching heads. In the recent past, the host’s popularity seems to be the most important factor, with top showings from Chris Rock and Ellen Degeneres.
