The Qatar World Cup venue will be finished by the end of 2018 The Al-Wakrah Stadium has a compacity of 40,000 with a price tag of $575 million. The stadium will be used during the World Cup for games up to and including quarter-finals. Once completed, 2022 World Cup officials will trial the stadium with “test matches” The venue was designed by celebrated Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid before her death at age65. Major works by Hadid include the Guangzhou Opera House in China and the aquatics centre at the 2012 London Olympics.
