ByteSnap Design Kick-Starts Vehicle-to-Grid Intelligent Control Project

A project funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) awarded ByteSnap Design a two-year project VIGIL (Vehicle-to-Grid Intelligent Control) under a Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) competition.

Working in partnership with Ashton University, Nortech Management and Grid Edge, ByteSnap will develop a communications adapter to ensure flexibility of design and compatibility with various V2G charge points in a communication and control platform for Vehicle-to-Grid/Building (V2G/V2B) systems.

More than 50 industrial partners and research organizations in the Energy and Automotive sectors will be working together on this project. The trials will involve more than 2700 vehicles across the UK.

The goal is to aid transition to a low-carbon transportation and smart energy system, allowing EVs to return energy to the Power Grid. Another objective is to make better use of renewable sources and increase Grid resilience.
