Opening Doors: Exploring Visitor Management, Tech Innovations, and Strategic Alliances

Dallas, TX – Parabit and STOPware recently collaborated to deliver a complete hardware and software visitor management solution for the healthcare industry. The two companies have been working together for several years, with Parabit providing the hardware and STOPware providing the software for visitor management.

STOPware introduced PassagePoint to the security market in 1997, pioneering the lobby security software marketplace. Their focus as a company is 100% visitor management, continuously developing their product to stay on the forefront of new technologies and offerings.

Parabit Systems is a manufacturing company that produces kiosks, digital displays for airports, building pod access systems for banks and financial institutions. They customize their kiosks based on customer requirements and retrofit them if necessary.

The collaboration between STOPware and Parabit has resulted in a self-registration system that allows visitors to approach a kiosk, follow specific guidelines and policies that they have to meet, and get a badge for themselves without using hospital manpower resources. The system is policy-driven, with one solution at one location being completely different from another location.

One of the unique things about this collaboration is that before a kiosk ships from Parabit’s facility, STOPware remotely checks all the devices to ensure they are performing as designed. This eliminates troubleshooting when the kiosk gets to the end-user.

At the recent IAHSS trade show, both companies exhibited their solutions. There was a lot of interest in self-service visitor management registration at the kiosk. There was also interest in managing restrictions based on patients’ approved visitors or restraining orders on file for other visitors. Access control integration was another topic of discussion.

Bob Hricisak, Vice President of Sales at Parabit Systems, emphasized that everyone needs to buy into the program for successful implementation. Security directors should involve all players who will participate in the program – not only security but also community affairs, IT department staff who will support it, and those who will staff the kiosk.
