The 2018 International Woodworking Fair (IWF) is one of the top trade shows in the world for the furniture manufacturing and woodworking industries. The biennial event was held last month in Atlanta, Georgia. This year featured over 1 million sq. ft. of exhibit space, with more than 1,000 exhibitors. The 30,000 attendees came from all 50 states and more than 80 countries, an incredible turnout!

Fair Highlights

IWF allows professionals to network and get an up-close look at industry innovations and practices. This year featured an extensive education program with over 70 seminars on manufacturing, business management, marketing, production, design, and other topics.

Symposiums covered 3D printing, powder coating, digital fabrication, lean manufacturing, and business conditions. Other show highlights included the Design Emphasis student competition, Challenger’s Awards for product innovation, New Product Showcase, Decorative Surfaces Pavilion, and Cabinet & Closets Pavilion.

Genesis Products exhibited at IWF for the first time this year. We enjoyed an amazing experience and connected with hundreds of other exhibitors and attendees.

Industry Trends

The fair proved that the current industry trend is efficiency in production, quality control, and waste management.

  • Product designs had a greater emphasis than years past
  • Hardwood plywood manufacturers had more products with 3D and non-traditional veneer effects
  • Surface manufacturers had beautiful, well-organized exhibits, which emphasized total home or total office environments

For its part, the Genesis booth featured quality and specialty surfaces and laminated and acoustic panels. We also showcased a range of materials used for diverse cabinet constructions, including multi-surface laminated and processed panels, multi-surface cabinet doors, drawer slides, and assembled drawers. Our booth also displayed examples of our lamination services and our wide range of substrates. Products from our Welformed Division, which specializes in high-content, recycled, post-consumer plastics and custom composite materials, were also on display.

Supplier Relationships

IWF 2018 provided a welcomed opportunity to reconnect with our suppliers and explore ways to better serve customers. Each of our core suppliers were committed to working with our sales team to provide them with the resources and education needed to give better overall service to our customers.
