Making the List: What it Means to One Company to be in the Dallas 100™

Ironside Human Services achieved the honor of making the Dallas 100 Entrepreneur Awards. The company is a national recruiting firm for healthcare professionals. They offer temporary and permanent placement for all jobs in the sector, from entry-level to the c-suite.

Winning this award demonstrates the company’s commitment to being a leading company in its industry. Doug Carter, the CEO, shared the story of the company’s heritage. “We started in 2011 with just my wife and me as a lifestyle company. Fast forward to now, and we have 20 employees and revenue of $25 million.”

The Dallas 100 Entrepreneur Awards started 31 years ago by the SMU (Southern Methodist University) Cox School of Business. It celebrates those companies that showcase an innovative spirit, determination, and business savvy. They recognize Dallas area entrepreneurs that are thriving in today’s competitive environment. Judges review company applications, looking at their sales growth, their credit report, and character.

A business’ headquarters must be in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area to apply for the award. They also must be independent, privately held corporations, proprietorships, or partnerships. Finally, the company must have at least three years of history with sales of $500,000 or more but less than $75 million.

Carter noted he applied for the award the last three years before the selection for 2020. He described what the honor meant to him. “It’s not a list to pay to be on, and the recognition from SMU is an incredible achievement for my staff and me. It will be a great recruiting tool for us in the future.”

With a strong 10 years of growth, the award is a celebration of the entire team at Ironside. “For our employees, they are excited to see us on the list, alongside some incredible companies. They achieved this,” Carter shared.

The company’s other recent achievements include recognition on Modern Healthcare’s Largest Physician Staffing Companies for 2021, the 2021 Impact Company of the Year from DotCom Magazine, ranking on Inc. Magazine’s 5000 Regionals: Texas at number 76, and Best Staffing Firm to Work For by Staffing Industry Analysts.
