Match Families: How Technology Is Solving a Hidden Epidemic in the US

Match Families, a new technological solution might be playing an important role in solving a hidden epidemic within the US. The holiday season is a natural time to celebrate with friends and family. However, it is easy to forget those who are not lucky enough to have a close social circle. According to Cigna research, 58% of US adults are considered lonely today.

Dzhangar Sanzhiev, Founder and CEO at MatchFamilies explains how loneliness affects physical and mental health, and why it is important to be aware of it, especially during the holiday season.

Dzhangar’s thoughts:

“What could be more important in your life than your family and your friends? But what happens if you move to another city, state, or country? You don’t have them nearby anymore, right? So you don’t have what’s most important in your life. How crazy is that? According to Cigna research, every fourth American feels lonely and isolated.

It’s like the new pandemic and the impact of loneliness on people’s health is compared to smoking a pack of cigarettes per day. It’s literally killing us from the inside. And as immigrants, my family and I, know this problem very well. We felt lonely. Building a new social circle from scratch is very challenging, and it takes a lot of time and effort.

And I launched the Match Families app to fix it and to help families improve their social lives, make new connections, and build lifelong friendships. With technology, we can now help millions of families become happier.”
