Beyond Meat Debuts New Beyond Sausage
Great news for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, food startup Beyond Meat is expanding its product line to tackle sausage.
In December, the company debuted their sausage at Pearl Street Whole Foods Market in Boulder, CO, and the company is looking to expand its distribution this month. Designed to replicate the flavor and texture of pork sausage, the plant-based meat will come in three flavors- hot Italian, bratwurst, and sweet Italian. The ingredient blend of peas, fava beans, rice, beet, paprika, and coconut oil is not only healthier to consume, but with 43% less total fat, 38% less saturated fat, and 26% less sodium[1], consumers can eat this sausage virtually guilt-free.
“I love Beyond Sausage first and foremost because it’s truly so enjoyable to eat but also because I see it as an advance in our team’s relentless march toward a perfect build of meat from plants,’ CEO Ethan Brown said. “Though we aren’t there yet, I’m encouraged by the progress we’ve made with Beyond Sausage and look forward to hearing what the consumer thinks.”[2]
With investors like Bill Gates, Tyson Foods and former McDonald's CEO Don Thompson, Beyond Meat is looking for its products to become a household name. And with emerging food technologies, plant-based meats might be the future.
