How Neurodiversity is Playing a Larger Role in the AV Industry

How is neurodiversity playing a larger role in the AV industry? Rob Voorhees of Exertis Almo explains this movement and the importance of it for the industry as a whole and for him personally.

Robert’s Thoughts:

I think that neurodiversity is beginning to play a much larger role in the modern industry, especially as evidenced by some recent events that we’ve seen being the parent of a 14-year-old on the autism spectrum, I witness these abilities much closer than most. But, I also see just what happens when you put their needs at the forefront and it really allows their creativity and their thoughts to shine.

It’s encouraging for me personally, not only as an employee but also as a parent. Because it shows me that industries in the country are starting to put the needs of neurodiverse people more at the forefront and show that we are cognizant of it and we’re working to help them and really let them show these abilities to the world.

So what I see moving forward is whether it’s. The audio, the video, the lighting maybe bandwidth needs or especially on the design side, we’re going to start seeing more projects that have a neurodiverse component to it to really show that we’re thinking of all these groups out there, whether it’s customers or the workforce.

And it’s just going to lead to a more dedicated workforce, but also customers are going to want to come to that location. So very encouraged by it, and I think the sky’s the limit as far as the AV industry’s concerned.
