Two Daktronics Displays Have Changed the Perth Stadium Experience

Builders of the new Perth Stadium in Australia, Multiplex, brought Daktronics on board to design, manufacture, and install 8 video LED displays. Completed this summer, the displays make for a lively and excited atmosphere in the stadium, playing a key role in the stadium experience as a whole. Daktronics was chosen for the contract due to their ability to execute on the stadium’s vision while working with limited time and parallel to other crews on-site.

Two primary displays, at the eastern and western ends of the stadium, are among the largest in Australia at around 32 ft high by 111 feet wide. The displays feature a 15HD pixel layout and make up over 3700 sq ft of display for instant replays, directions to merchandising, seat layouts, commentary, entertainment, highlights, and more. Fans can watch instant replays even in direct sunlight, not missing a second of the action.

Stadium officials see the displays as a centerpiece of the stadium experience, engaging fans from the moment they enter the stadium to the last moment before they leave. Blair Robertson, Daktronics regional manager, described the “super” system, “Perth Stadium is world class and will provide a unique experience through light, sound and digital content designed for the fans.” A pair of ribbon displays wrap the stadium at both ground level and at level one, each around 3 ft high by 1131 ft long, that offer complementary content to the primary displays like obscure stats, event information, and advertising. The Daktronics displays have changed the experience of events at Perth Stadium forever and for good.
