Watch: Best Buy Becomes Latest to Report Data Breach
The retailer announced on Friday that the [24] chat support service hack from Sep. 27 to Oct. 12 has affected “a number of Best Buy customers.” Best Buy issued a statement saying, “as best we can tell, only a small fraction of our overall online customer population could have been caught up in this . . . incident whether or not they used the chat function.’’ Sears and Delta reported their customers were affected by a data breach through [24]7, as well.Best Buy promised to contact any affected customers and assured they will not be held responsible for any fraudulent charges.
