Solution To Space Junk
Orbital space “junk” is a growing problem for the world as more countries send satellites and other hardware into the atmosphere. This junk continues to orbit the world, posing a collision threat. Airbus has a solution based on a harpoon device attached to a chase spacecraft that pursues the targeted junk, attaches to it, then drags it lower into the atmosphere where it will burn to destruction. Today there are more than 20,000 junk items tracked by scientists, and in testing the Airbus harpoon methodology shows promise.
