Watch: Google Hopes to Achieve Quantum Computing with new Chip
Researchers at Google are preparing to test a 72 quantum bit (qubit) computer chip. The new chip is a significant leap from their previous 9-qubit chip, but quantum supremacy remains out of reach. Quantum supremacy, computing what traditional computers can’t, requires at least 50 qubits, and the challenges are big. Google, IBM, and Intel have all announced quantum testing, but Google’s 72 bits is by far the most ambitious.
