Keen Lab in China has uncovered 14 flaws in the BMW Series X, 3, 5 and 7 The flaws could allow hackers to partially control affected vehicles while in use. BMW has advised customers that there will soon be software updates, verified all of the reported vulnerabilities.

Keen Lab also identified how to compromise the cars by plugging in infected USB sticks. The Lab was awarded an IT research prize. Vulnerabilities included the telematics control unit, the internet-connected infotainment systems, and the central gateway module.
