How Supply Chains Run the World – and Finding People to Run Them

On this episode of Careers On The Move, A Cargomatic Podcast, host Tyler Kern talked with Radu Palamariu, Managing Director Asia Pacific, Alcott Global.

Alcott Global provides executive search solutions for the world’s top companies in ecommerce, the supply chain, logistics and transportation technology.

The duo dove into Palamariu’s career path, hiring top-level executives and working in the supply chain, which is coming back online in the wake of COVID-19 disruption.

Palamariu has been working on C-level and top management executive search assignments with Fortune 500 companies and local Asia conglomerates. On a day-to-day basis, he spends a lot of time talking with people as he tries to pull in top-level employees for companies.

When looking for candidates, he considers experience, the company’s size and the role, but he also looks for specific other factors that could help determine success, such as whether a candidate wants to live in the region where they are applying for work.

“The bread and butter, the fundamentals, is talking to people,” Palamariu said. “Ultimately, we are there to connect people. We are there to connect companies with very good candidates to take the company forward. In order to do that, you need to speak to a lot, a lot, a lot of people.”

Sometimes, it’s like finding a needle in a haystack after considering culture, fit, and more. Palamariu also looks for specific characteristics for those working in the supply chain. Listen to hear more about hiring and careers in supply chain.
