Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical and subject matter expertise in support of the TPC RC team and Members (75%)
    • Collaborates with Revenue Cycle Council and contributes to development of TPC strategy and workplan with VP of Revenue Cycle
    • Leads, builds and maintains relationships with HIM, CDI and Case Management revenue cycle leaders at Member facilities
    • Directs member facilities in best practice and performance improvement projects as defined by the supporting Member Council and VP of Revenue Cycle
    • Leads and manages projects to drive operational and financial improvement across multiple revenue cycle departments (i.e. Revenue Integrity, CDI, HIM, and Care Management) and multiple locations
    • Leads subcommittee and targeted workgroup meetings focused on facilitating and driving results
    • Develops actionable workplans to support Member initiatives
    • Assist Members in obtaining and validating revenue cycle data
    • Performs data analytics and benchmarks Member key performance indicators against industry best practices
    • Assist Members in optimizing HIM, CDI, and Care Management workflow, systems, and operations at TPC Members
    • Identify opportunities for improvement through observations, analysis, and interviews and builds a case for change
    • Manage and build vendor relationships including contract negotiations and vendor performance discussions
    • Identify and implement vendors to support Member needs
    • Utilize expertise to build projects/programs that meet the business needs of Members and TPC
    • Innovate new ways to enhance Member performance
    • Manage both TPC and Member resources to drive results timely
  • Leads and coordinates TPC meetings, webinars, conference calls and events, in conjunction with TPC Revenue Cycle team as appropriate (15%):
    • Develop monthly meeting content and agenda in coordination with VP of Revenue Cycle and the appropriate council Chair
    • Develop content and presentation for quarterly Executive Steering Committee and Board of Managers meeting with Member CEO, COO, and CFO
  • Provides operational support to TPC RC team members (5%):
  • Provides administrative support to TPC RC team (5%):
  • Provides other duties as required by TPC RC team.
Minimum Knowledge, Competencies & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or healthcare related field required, MBA in Healthcare related field preferred
  • Current clinical license (Physician or RN)
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical documentation improvement experience
  • Past employment with large/medium sized Consulting firm(s) and/or multi-facility acute care setting strongly preferred
  • Recognized CDI credential from ACDIS (CCDS) or AHIMA (CDIP)
  • Active participant in relevant health care industry groups (e.g., ACDIS, AHIMA, HFMA, HIMSS, etc.)
  • Demonstration of DRG payer issues, documentation opportunities, and clinical documentation requirements
  • Experience with building inpatient and outpatient CDI programs
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills
  • Excellent organization skills and a strong professional presence
  • Experience with data analytics utilized in the mid revenue cycle, clinical and financial operations
  • Robust project management skills across multi departments and facilities
  • Proficient in all areas of coding/auditing including ICD-10-CM Coding Guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic as well as CDI guidelines endorsed by AHIMA and ACDIS
  • Experience providing education to clients, including training clinical documentation specialists and physicians/physician extenders
  • Experience with hospital and physician patient accounting systems, such as EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, GE, and Allscripts
  • Experience with CDI and Coding technology platforms including 3M and Optum 360
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications, including but not limited to advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Skilled at drafting and editing correspondence and associated documentation.
