Dallas Chooses Ericson For New Traffic Solution System

The future of urban transportation has jumped into the fast lane. ICT solutions company Ericsson has been chosen by the city of Dallas, TX to create an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) based on Ericsson’s Connected Urban Transport solution. The goal of the project is to create a “Smart City” by integrating data into a system that can work to proactively manage the Metroplex’s traffic needs. William Finch, Chief Information Officer for the City of Dallas, said “The smart way to becoming a Smart City is the intentional focus on making data actionable. Ericsson’s solution offers a lot of potential through the modernization our traffic management technology. It is from this technology that we will derive more robust data, that leads to greater business intelligence, which in turn enhances our application.” The project has already begun and without any traffic jams, should be up and running as early as 2020
