For over forty years Fiberguide Industries has built a reputation as a reliable, long-term, strategic partner with Original Equipment Manufacturers by providing cost-effective, practical fiber optic solutions engineered to meet a client’s specific needs. However, that’s not the only partnership that has contributed to the company’s success. Fiberguide is proud to have an extensive international network of distribution partners. These partners expand the reach of Fiberguide to better address the needs of current and future clients with innovative solutions.

Fiberguide Begins Life as a National Company

In 1977, when Ted Rich founded Fiberguide in New Jersey, he may not have envisioned the international reach the company would eventually have. Rich established Fiberguide as a specialty optical fiber manufacturer producing both non-standard fibers and specially coated fibers for the nuclear, medical, industrial, and energy industries. As demand grew, Fiberguide merged with Highlight Fiber Optics in Idaho, later opening a state-of-the-art CNC Machining Center there. This new center marked a significant expansion for Fiberguide, but that was just the beginning.

The Company Expands to Serve an International Audience

Since the 1990s, Fiberguide has been expanding its network of distributors around the globe in order to serve an expanding international client base better. The company opened a Chinese sales office in 2010, followed by a manufacturing facility in Shanghai in 2012. This location manufactures, stocks, and ships products to Chinese customers, thus reducing transport and customs complications. The Shanghai expansion marked the beginning of a direct international presence with more to come. In 2018, for example, an account manager was added in Europe to serve customers better.

A Global Network of Distributors to Address Client’s Needs

Today, the strong network of global distributors has the technological expertise to provide all of Fiberguide’s products and services to customers. Each of these partners is assigned a Fiberguide manager who regularly visits to answer questions and provide training. Clients can call their local distributor at any time without any concerns about differences in time zones, or visit their nearby office to view products or have a meeting. And if a client has a custom order, their local distributor can draw on the expertise of Fiberguide engineers to deliver an innovative solution.

Fiberguide’s reliable network of distributors in the United States and overseas allows us to serve global consumers and corporations at the local level. Extreme heat is turning solar, batteries and load flexibility into the new capacity test for data center growth

Extreme heat is turning solar, batteries and load flexibility into the new capacity test for data center growth

Extreme heat is increasingly challenging data centers to integrate solar energy, battery storage, and load flexibility as essential components for future capacity. Data center growth is being tested by record summer peaks in regions such as PJM, SPP, and Texas, demonstrating the need for adaptable energy solutions. These energy challenges highlight the critical role of sustainable practices in data center operations.

  • 01Data centers are facing capacity challenges due to extreme heat and record summer peaks.
  • 02Integration of solar, batteries, and load flexibility is becoming essential for data center growth.
  • 03Regions like PJM, SPP, and Texas are experiencing significant stress on energy resources.

Heat and river constraints are turning Europe’s summer power stack into a gas risk again

Heat and river constraints are turning Europe’s summer power stack into a gas risk again

Europe's power supply is under strain due to summer heat, leading to decreased wind generation, restrictions on nuclear power due to cooling limits, and temporary gas outages. This situation is causing gas prices to increase as the market attempts to compensate for the power deficit. The reliance on gas is becoming a risk factor as the power stack adjusts to these conditions.

  • 01Europe's summer heat is reducing wind power generation.
  • 02Nuclear power plants face cooling limits in high temperatures.
  • 03Gas supply outages are pushing prices higher.

First-half 2026 grid additions show storage is being procured like capacity, not energy

First-half 2026 grid additions show storage is being procured like capacity, not energy

The Energy Information Administration's midyear plant list for 2026 indicates a significant rise in solar and battery projects. This trend is prompting changes in specifications around deliverable megawatt-hours and interconnection rights. Storage is increasingly being procured as capacity, similar to traditional grid additions, rather than as energy alone.

  • 01New grid projects are dominated by solar and battery installations.
  • 02Operators are adjusting specifications to focus on deliverable megawatt-hours.
  • 03Storage is being procured on the grid as capacity, akin to traditional additions.
