How Franchises Can Make the Most of their Social Media

Sports teams have thousands and in some cases millions of followers across their social media channels. The question that many of these teams face is, what do we do now? How do they leverage these followers in a way that benefits the organization while still providing engaging content for their fans?

That’s where Blinkfire Analytics is stepping in to provide a new layer of data so teams can better engage fans and promote sponsors. Alec Weber is the Business Development Manager for Blinkfire and he joined the Sports & Entertainment Podcast to explain how they’re helping rights holders and and brands take their social media content to the next level.

“The premise of what we do here at Blinkfire is identifying brand exposure in social content,” says Weber. “It just allows another lens to see these assets get value. They have broadcasts, the arena and people showing up to the game, and now social is a big part of that. Now that you’re able quantify that is something that a lot of our team partners have really liked.”

The analytics that teams receive helps them ensure that the content they’re posting is engaging for fans, while the BrandSpotter technology allows them to tailor their content for maximum brand exposure for sponsors.

In a world where winning is everything, this feels like a win-win.

Smarter Science Off the Field is Helping Players Stay On It

As athletes get bigger, stronger, and faster, the challenge to keep them healthy and playing at their best has grown. Thankfully, new technology is available to help trainers and coaching staffs make the best possible decisions regarding the health of their players.

One of the individuals on the forefront of these efforts is Skylar Richards, Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Sports Science for FC Dallas. He joined this episode of the Sports & Entertainment podcast to talk about the advancements in sports science and highlight some of the companies and methods helping him keep the FC Dallas players in top shape.

Richards says he breaks things down into three main categories: athletic training (injury, rehab, evaluation), injury prevention, and data analytics. “Combining those three data sets, as massive as each one is, into something that actionable for the club can help drive decision-making,” he says.
