As electric vehicles continue to establish their place in the consumer market, there is also a strong movement in the rapidly expanding e-trucking industry.
The recent focus on e-trucking by Tesla, has been joined by announcements from competitors with their sights set firmly and aggressively on the commercial trucking segment of Elon Musk’s automotive business.
While there have been smaller deployments of Daimler’s short-haul e-truck by UPS, and indications that Cummins has plans for its own Class 7 electric-powered truck, There haven’t been too many clear statements on the cost, options or value, as the market is still relatively new.
That is about to change with an announcement by Navistar of its plan to have more e-trucks on the road than Tesla by 2025, despite not having released any official plans on what it will offer.
Whether it’s an all-electric bus with a range of 120 miles or a Tesla e-truck with a range of 500 miles on a single charge while carrying up to 80,000 pounds, these innovators are poised to put a significant and efficient charge into the industry.
