Resolutions You Can Keep For Your Vehicle in 2018

If you made a New Year’s Resolution when the clock struck midnight on January 1st, you’re not alone. After all, it’s a long standing tradition. We make resolutions for a variety of reasons, from personal growth and change to spending more time with family and friends, or whatever else needs more attention in the year ahead.

But what about resolutions for your vehicle? January is the perfect time to assess the needs of your car and to make sure it will be ready to take on whatever the new year has in store. We’ve compiled a list of resolution ideas that you won’t have trouble sticking to in 2018.

  1. Tire Check

When was the last time you had your tires inspected? Rotated? The winter months are the perfect time to make sure your tires are the best they can be. With harsher weather comes ice chemicals, salt, faster wear, and if your tires are in bad shape, so is your fuel economy and your safety.

Resolution: Make an appointment with your tire specialist for an inspection.

  1. Check That Battery

Extreme temperatures can play games with your battery’s lifespan. In freezing temperatures, your battery’s capacity will decrease significantly in dramatic negative temperatures. The key to battery life in extreme temperatures, hot or cold, is the state of charge and maintaining a full state of charge.

Resolution:  Take your car to an auto technician and test or replace your battery if needed.

  1. Replace the Wipers

Did you know that you can wear out your wipers? Maybe you noticed the visibility on your windshield has declined in the last few months, or that the ice storm last week left the rubber a bit detached. If it’s been a while since you’ve replaced the blades, now is the time!

Resolution: Make an appointment with your local auto technician and replace your wipers.

  1. Give Your Car a Bath

When the weather gets messy, roads are coated in all sorts of salt and chemicals designed to combat freezing. While it’s necessary for driving safety, it can wreak havoc on your paint, and your interior. After every major winter event, it’s a good idea to get your car in for a spa day,and vacuum those floors.

Resolution: Visit the car wash and give it a good once over.

  1. Destash the Glove Box

Every house has a catch-all drawer, and every vehicle has a glove box. Maybe you’ve been hoarding candy bar wrappers, or other random objects that were floating around on the floorboards and finding the paperwork at a moment’s notice is getting harder to do. It’s time to clean it out and get your paperwork back in order.

Resolution:  Clean out your glove box, organize, and store your vehicle documents.

With this list, keeping a resolution for 2018 is easier than ever! For more information on the products we offer, or to locate a Mighty distributor, visit our website.
