ROBOTIC WELDING SOLUTIONS FOR OFFSHORE OIL AND GAS

The global demand for energy continues to increase as populations grow and industries expand. To meet these energy needs, the oil and gas industry has explored into harsher terrain and deeper water to locate rich reserves of fossil fuels.  These extreme locations create immense engineering challenges to extract oil and gas in a manner that is safe for the environment and those who perform the work.

While conventional onshore and shallow water oil production is still going strong, the development of deepwater offshore fields has become a major contributor to worldwide oil and gas production. To operate in deepwater and ultra-deepwater locations, new technologies have been implemented to safely produce and transport these oil and gas reserves.

Robotic welding is a key component to this deepwater exploration and production.  Materials for pipe, tools, and other equipment are specially selected to withstand the extreme pressure, temperature, and corrosive environments encountered during this process; and the weld joints must be as resilient as the material itself.

Arc Specialties Robotic Welding Solutions

Efficient oil and gas production operations rely on the robustness of materials.  Failure of a critical material, even in the slightest, can have catastrophic consequences that impact the environment, the safety of personnel, and the livelihood of the larger population.

Arc Specialties understands the extreme importance of welded joints and have developed precision robotic welding solutions. These products deliver quality welds that meet or exceed the material properties necessary to conduct safe offshore oil and gas operations.

RoboCell 2P Welding Cell

The RoboCell 2P by Arc Specialties combines precision welding with optimized throughput.  This robotic welder is configured to enable a single robot to perform constant welding operations between two workstations, resulting in a dramatic increase in productivity as idle time for the welding robot is minimized.

Not only can the robot operate two workstations, but it also has a versatile range of motion to perform even the most complex welds.  Equipped with a 2-axis positioner that coordinates tilt and rotation, the RoboCell 2P Welding Cell is an incredible 10-axis robotic welding solution.

ARC-06S CNC SAW BOP Welding System

Capable of welding large valve bodies, the ARC-06S welding system is ideal for many oil and gas welding needs.  This automated robotic welding system utilizes a PMAC CNC controller and fully coordinated 4-axis motion for complex welding tasks.

With 94” vertical travel and 72” horizontal travel, this robotic welding system can complete welding operations on large material sections that are required for deepwater oil and gas extraction.  An integrated tilt and rotation positioner and use of inverse kinematics ensure that weld placement is on target while maintaining a constant surface speed for a consistent and robust weld.

When it comes to welding needs for offshore oil and gas operations, Arc Specialties knows that weld quality, precision, and consistency are critical.  With a selection of robotic welding solutions, as well as programmable logic controllers and machine tool controllers for automation, Arc Specialties is equipped to meet and exceed the most demanding material joining needs.
