Job Description

About the XFL
The new XFL will reimagine football for the 21st century when it kicks off in early 2020. Delivering authentic, high-energy football for the whole family at an affordable price, the XFL will offer fast-paced games with fewer play stoppages and simpler rules. The league will launch with eight teams in markets across the country, 45-man active rosters, and a 10-week regular season schedule with a postseason consisting of two semifinal playoff games and a championship game. The XFL is a single entity that owns the league and all teams, employing professionals at its Stamford, CT headquarters as well as in each of the markets that the teams call home.
About the Role
The Manager, Marketing Partnerships is a key member of the partnership team and will play an integral role in both sales and activation across the entire portfolio to drive long-term growth for local and League-wide partnerships.
The Manager, Marketing Partnerships will collaborate with the head of partnerships to develop, prospect, negotiate and secure revenue-generating and value-creating partnerships that support the New York Guardians overall business strategy and integrated marketing plan throughout the Greater New York area.  The role will also be responsible for servicing existing partnerships, including management of 360-cross platform deliverables/timelines to ensure successful and quality execution of all partnership elements.
What you will do
  • Collaborate in creating go-to-market partnership/revenue strategies for the New York Guardians while building brand equity for the team in the business community.
  • Support in the creation, valuation and management of the New York Guardians suite of partnership assets, including, but not limited to, partner-branded ownership platforms, multi-channel media packages and game-related content and experiences.
  • Manage and activate partnerships, including national partnerships sold through the League office, to ensure the team is meeting the needs of partners and community organizations.
  • Coordinate partner activation with multiple stakeholders across the fan engagement team, including content, marketing, PR, CSR and game day.
  • Develop partnership materials – proposals, recaps, market research.
  • Work closely with head of partnerships to share best practices and develop strategies to drive revenue across the entire ecosystem.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders at MetLife Stadium to ensure partnership interests of the New York Guardians are being fully considered.
  • Contribute to revenue goals, including operational cost savings for the entire entity.
  • Manage and track partnership inventory.
What you will bring
  • Minimum 5 years of marketing partnership development and activation experience, with an emphasis on selling multi-faceted sports and entertainment partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop key relationships with decision makers, understanding their unique business needs and leveraging available resources to sell and execute revenue-generating marketing partnerships.
  • Expertise in strategic partnership prospecting, including asset creation and management, structuring fully integrated marketing partnerships, closing high-revenue deals and retaining existing partners.
  • Knowledge of Greater New York-area business community, with an existing network of key local and national contacts preferred (brand and agencies).
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Deep strategic understanding and experience activating partnerships that drive direct value for brand partners, ultimately leading to a high retention of partnerships.
  • Knowledge and ability to think strategically about partner/brand goals and objectives, and the capability to craft marketing solutions that generate revenue through a partnerships first approach.
  • An innovative, entrepreneurial mindset, and an excitement for the challenge of building a new professional sports organization.
