Job Description

Duties, Responsibilities and Accountability:

  • Architect, design, simulate and test leading edge FPGA & HW solutions for Video, Audio, USB, and VoIP product solutions
  • Write and review design requirements, work with management to break down design into tasks and effort estimates
  • Support and facilitate aggressive project scheduling, be nimble while executing effectively towards well-defined objectives
  • Work with team members to verify the functionality of FPGA, HW, and embedded SW
  • Generate both specification & design documentation to support cross functional aspects of the NPI process
  • Contribute directly to technical decisions relating to signal integrity, density, DFM, power, and thermal considerations
  • Develop implementation options, manage/negotiate component selection
  • Integrate keenly with work from others, thoroughly test all designs while supporting PV (aka QA) throughout development – this includes tuning test plans to align focus, validating feedback, debugging/fixing hardware problems as required
  • Assist in supporting other staff members as necessary through entire NPI process flow – including design, documentation, test, presales, customer service, and continued quality assurance measures

Job Description 

Requirements:

  • Senior level HW & FPGA design knowledge and experience across broad range of topics including: System architectures, logic building blocks, functional hierarchy, encapsulation for reuse and repurpose, control and status methods using FSMs, embedded processors, SoC communication busses, high speed transceivers, clock domain analysis, & timing closure
  • Fluent in hardware design languages, VHDL and/or Verilog (preferred), schematic capture and PCB layout directives
  • Expertise in current Xilinx and/or Altera-Intel devices and associated design and debugging tools
  • Proficiency in general circuit principles, power supply design, uP design, memory interfaces, and signal conditioning
  • Strong debugging skills & proficient with typical lab equipment (scopes, multimeters, J-BERTs, network analyzers, etc)
  • Ability to accurately estimate and track task/project durations and drive towards completion
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, version control solutions (Subversion, Git, etc.)
  • B.S. in Engineering required 

Advantages:

  • Experience with ASIC and/or FPGA designs, multi-gigabit trancievers, DDR3/4 interfaces, PLL’s, power and clock integrity
  • Experience with digital video standards (SMTPE, HDMI, Display Port) and associated audio standards
  • Experience with IP infrastructure (MAC, PHY) and IP routing layers 1-3
  • Experience with 10G/25G fiber networking, SFP+, and high-performance network switchers
  • Experience with embedded Linux development
  • Experience with bare-metal embedded processor development
  • Knowledge of software languages such as C, C++, Python, and scripting languages such as Tcl, Bash, csh
