Energy Fellow and Lecturer on Economics University of Houston
Ed Hirs is a leading energy economist and energy markets specialist.
He is Managing Partner for Hillhouse Resources, LLC, an independent E&P company developing onshore conventional oil and gas discoveries on the Texas Gulf Coast. Previously, Ed was CFO of DJ Resources, Inc., an early leader in the Niobrara Shale where he completed equity fundings, bank financings, audits, and derivatives trading. • Crude Oil Imports and National Security
• The Replacement of Coal by Fracgas in the Generation of Electric Power
• Synfuels to Replace Crude Oil Soon
• The Arithmetic of Shale Gas
With co-authors, he has published opinion pieces on energy topics and corporate governance. He founded and co-chairs an annual energy conference at Yale University. He has been interviewed by Forbes, The Houston Chronicle, The New York Times, Bloomberg Business News, NPR, and national networks ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.
Prior to joining DJ Resources, Ed was a corporate finance professional, management consultant and investment banker.
