CIO has been the biggest transition of my career. For more than 25 years my focus has been tactical first, strategy second. This new position demands a move into a strategy first mindset.
My focus must be on understanding the strategic goals of the company, with the needs of the market and ensuring that the technology operations strategies are aligned with the corporate vision.
We (IT) must also be a key stakeholder in the company’s future, HBR says all companies are software companies, and we (IT again) are in the proper position to start the drive and navigate the “digital transformation” revolution.
Ultimately, I love the challenge, the demands and pressure push me to improve and evolve and I relish the ability to rise to meet and overcome.
