Going into the 2018-2019 school year, Every Student Succeeds, or ESSA, is finally going from a plan to a policy, changing the standards placed on teachers and districts for student success. The biggest change comes to the “A” word– accountability. For many schools, their systems are too complex or disjointed, making essential data difficult to access but punishing districts with performance numbers.
