APEX Gold Medal Winner Talks Installation of the Year Win

Industry events bring the latest products under one roof, but it is important to recognize how these innovations have changed the outside world in the past year.

Absen Inc., in partnership with integrator Revel Media Group, was honored as the Gold Medal recipient in the Venues category at the 15th annual APEX Awards on March 27. Absen won the award for its work on the Hale Centre Theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah. The company outfitted the theater with digital signage both inside and out to help carry out the vision set forth by the performance hall management team.

Absen Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications, Alison Maxson, explained what the honor means for the company and detailed the award-winning project, which was also recognized as Installation of the Year at DSE.

Maxson believes the collaboration between Absen and Revel Media Group was what made this success possible.

“I’m still in shock,” Maxson said. “To me, it’s about the relationships that we’re building. Technology is secondary. It’s there, but it’s not the only thing. It really comes down to the relationships.”

Publicis Sapient led all brands with three gold medals at the APEX Awards this year. It took home the honors for Hospitality, Retail Environment and Healthcare Environment. It also received a bronze medal in the Entertainment and Recreation category. There was a total of 112 entrants for this year’s awards, with displays on everything from a royal wedding to Toys ‘R’ Us taking home hardware. A panel of 15 Pro AV experts and journalists voted on the displays.
