The Consumer Technology Association’s annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) gathering is the premier event in consumer technology. This year’s fast-moving CES 2023 event featured exhibitions from global tech powerhouses and presentations from entrepreneurs and industry-leading keynote presentations. 

During this weeklong Las Vegas event, transportation/mobility was very much a hot topic, and in fact, led many of the exciting discussions within this year’s conference.  With such a focus on transportation this year, it should come as no surprise that Are We There Yet?’s Grant Harrell found himself walking the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center and Venetian Expo Hall, tracking down the innovators making a difference in mobility, and those leading transportation technology development.  Harrell even mixed in some fun while at CES this year, remotely operating a bulldozer on the expo floor, taking the Tesla loop, and a secret, VIP event at the Mirage?!   

“Believe it or not, a nonprofessional driver such as myself had the opportunity at CES, right on the expo floor, to remotely operate a bulldozer over a thousand miles away in Arizona,” Harrell said. “So, it was a cool opportunity to try my hand at operating a bulldozer remotely.” 

Harrell put together a special installment of Are We There Yet? to highlight all of the exciting things he experienced at CES 2023, and there are a lot of highlights and takeaways to share, including:

  • The growing electrification movement within transportation/mobility 
  • Advancements within autonomous technologies and sensor improvements
