For the past 21 years, I have trained the chiefs of police in Texas on racial profiling. Specifically, I have been responsible for developing the state template on racial profiling requirements specific to Senate Bill 1074 (otherwise known as the Texas Racial Profiling Law) and the Sandra Bland Act. During the course of training the chiefs of police, I have also been responsible for performing data audits while drafting reports which are submitted to the state and city councils.
I have enjoyed providing this service to Texas law enforcement and feel that my academic experience has been enriched by it. There is no question that the issue of racial profiling continues to be at the forefront of our communities as we become a more diverse and complex society.
