The Return of a Fall Brewing Tradition: Funnel Cake Ale

The Voice of B2B, Daniel Litwin, was joined by the Director of Marketing Operation for Community Beer Company, Corey Dickinson, to discuss the cancellation of the State Fair of Texas, an update on Community Beer Company events and offerings, and an overview of the craft brewing industry as a whole.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Texas State Fair has been cancelled.  “It’s always something that we look forward to and certainly something that our fans look forward to,” said Dickinson.

The Community Beer Company Funnel Cake Ale has become wildly popular at the fair, but this year’s cancellation has put a damper on the plans of many fairgoers.  Even so, Funnel Cake Ale will be back in 2020 and bigger than ever.

“We wanted to do our part to bring the fair to you,” said Dickinson.

Community Beer Company will be launching the 2020 Funnel Cake Ale season by teaming up with Fletcher’s Corny Dogs to offer a taste of the fair: corn dogs, funnel cakes, and Funnel Cake Ale, of course.  The event will be hosted at the CBC brewery with social distancing guidelines in place.

The global pandemic has caused many in the craft brewing industry to adjust.

“Adaptation and creativity are key to overcoming obstacles,” Dickinson remarked.  Craft brewers are coming up with new and exciting ways to engage customers and stay competitive in a vastly different business environment.  “The inventiveness of the beer industry has been really amazing.”
